Exciting Sunday

The girls and I were lazy, lazy today. We stayed in our pajamas until this afternoon. I love days like that! This afternoon, we went to visit Mindy and Doug. Peyton was "SO EXCITED!" She loves Mindy, frequently calling her Aunt Mindy. She told me that today we would go see Mindy and tomorrow we would go to Mindy's wedding. She has been asking me when the lady was going to call so we could pick up her purple dress for Mindy's wedding. We made a mistake. We took Peyton to try on flower girl dresses and told her she could try on whatever she wanted. Her favorite ended up being a purple one. So even though we told her that Mindy wasn't having purple in her wedding and she would probably wear white or brown, she is set on the purple dress. It had been months since we tried on dresses, so I can't believe that she still remembers that purple dress.

We got to play Wii with Mindy. Now I want one more than ever. It was pretty fun. They did Wii Fit and Kalee was even over there marching, kicking and swaying her hips to hula hoop. Matt says we don't need video games for the girls, which is funny to me. Growing up, the only video games I had was an Atari. I think he had every game under the sun. He thinks my family was weird for not having video games, and now I want one and he doesn't think our girls need them. So I guess my family wasn't that weird... Plus, it's not like I want it for the girls, I want it for myself!! My birthday is coming up...a girl can dream.

I am happy to report that Peyton has definitely made friends with Doug M. We were a little afraid that when it came time for her to act as flower girl at Mindy and Doug's wedding, Peyton would look down the aisle, see Doug, turn and run screaming the other way. It took awhile for her to warm up to him...she would always say she didn't want him to be at Mindy's house, she didn't want to see him. But today, she hugged him. Willingly. It was a big step in the Peyton and Doug relationship. I think the wedding will go off without a hitch. He still has some work to do with Kalee. I have faith.

As we were driving home from Mindy's, we had to pull to the side of the road for a firetruck to pass us. Turns out it was Matt's firetruck. So we followed him. Both girls were super excited that Daddy was in the firetruck ahead of us with it's lights on. There was a car accident. So there were 3 firetrucks, police, and an ambulance. Peyton thought it was awesome. Kalee kept pointing and saying Da Da!!! We stayed until they were pulling away. Matt was driving and honked at us, then they pulled over to say hello. So it was pretty exciting for the girls to see Daddy in action. Pretty exciting for all of us. He is so cute. I love him.

I just put the girls to bed and have decided that this is by far my favorite time of the day with Kalee. She is so cuddly and sweet. Before she goes to bed, she will give me a big love. She wraps her arms around me and buries her head in my shoulder. Then she puckers her lips and gives me a wet little kiss. I lay in bed with her and she talks to me and pats my cheek. Aside from the thumb up the nose incident, she is just so sweet. I just remembered that tonight when she was talking, she kept saying Dougie, so maybe he doesn't have that far to go with her!
