Back at it!

Image
I am a major slacker this week. I guess I missed Matt more than I care to admit. I just couldn't seem to get myself together last week. I don't know what was wrong with me. I admit that I even took a pregnancy test because I thought I might be pregnant...you know, since I was so stupid and forgetful all week. I am NOT pregnant, don't worry! I guess a week of single parenting is enough to make me lose my mind! Matt made it back Sunday morning. He brought presents for the girls, they were so excited. He got them both dolls, Snow White for Peyton and Tinkerbell for Kalee, shirts, and necklaces and bracelets. I think it's so cute when he gets them stuff. Peyton sleeps with her Snow White, it is her favorite Princess, don't you know?!! View from the Shack. The best shot of the actual shack that he took. The highlight of the trip seems to be catching a shark. Tyler officially caught it. It was about 5 feet long. They butchered (I don't know if this is what you call ...

Tara Jo...

My Twilight obsession continues...I am almost glad Matt is gone for the week so he doesn't know how many times I have truly watched the movie already! It is probably slightly pathetic, but I don't care. I just love it! We had a scare this weekend with Tara Jo. (of course Tyler is in Florida...) She got in an accident Sunday afternoon and was taken by ambulance to the ER. She is 8 months prego, so really it was all more for the baby than her, I think. They are both fine, thank god!! I don't think I have ever driven so fast to Springfield. Which, I know, is not the most appropriate way to respond after someone has had a car accident. Oh well. The girls were with Kevin and Debbie when Tara called to say she had been in an accident. They were in Carlinville, so started driving to the hospital and Debbie was calling people. Apparently Kalee was asleep, but ended up waking up. Debbie turned to her and said Kalee Jo, did you wake up?? Then Peyton spouts out, "we...

At Last!

Twilight came out on DVD yesterday. Yes, I am one of those girls who is fascinated by this series! Peyton and I were waiting outside Target at 8 in the morning with all the teeny boppers so we could buy it. Actually, I wasn't the oldest one there, I was, however, the only one who drug her daughter there in her jammies! I waited all day and finally sat down at 9:30 last night to watch it. This is late for me...since my bed time is usually between 8 and 9 (I like my sleep!!). I watched it all and then thought about watching it again, but decided that I should get some sleep. The girls spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa. Pop is coming this morning to spray the shit out of this house. We have ants. Have had them since we moved in. NOTHING will make them go away. So I am really depending on Pop to bring some lethal poison and get rid of them for good! So tonight we will be going to Pawnee to stay. If he's covering the house with poison, I think we should probably...

Haley

Good Luck with the Spelling Bee Haley!! And don't forget...Catbird...C-a-t-b-i-r-d NOT C-a-t-b-u-r-g...(and, no, I really still don't know what it is)

St. Patty's

Image
The girls were excited to find that the leprechauns had come to their house on St. Patrick's Day. "Those silly Leprechauns" put stamps on their hands, put up green streamers, painted shamrocks all over the windows and mirrors, and left a treasure map for the girls to find some gold. They came while the girls were sleeping. Peyton woke up and ran out into the living room. She was pretty much beside herself with excitement! It was so cute. So once Kalee woke up, they went on their treasure hunt. They followed their map...rang the doorbell, rode their scooters to the van, honked the horn, filled the bird feeder, shot a basket at the playhouse, went down the slide and finally found some treasure in the sand box. At one point, Kalee was playing with the balloons that they left around the yard and Peyton turned to her and said, "Kalee come on!! We don't have time for playing with that, we have to find the treasure!!!" We went to Allie's softball game last nigh...

A Little Too Sassy!

Happy St. Patty's Day!! The girls are wearing green. I told Peyton she had to so the leprechauns wouldn't get her. She thought that was funny! Not much is going on here. Matt is getting ready to go to Florida. We went shopping for some essentials for him last night. Adult wipes, toothpaste, beef jerky, a magazine...you know, all the stuff you need when you are going to a shack in the water in the middle of nowhere, FL. Tara already bought the beer, so he should be set. I have been noticing a strange burning smell when I drive the van lately. So I had him look at that last night. He thinks it is just some oil that may be left over from the (as he calls it) "Peyton helping Daddy change the oil incident." Or as I like to call it the "Matt screwed up changing my oil incident." Either way, he washed out the engine and said to watch it. He is leaving for a week, so other men in my life...be on standby. History has taught me that something will go wron...

Two Step Tutor

Image
Matt tried to teach the girls how to two-step the other night. They thought is was hilarious! He was playing country music for them. One of the firemen that he works with apparently needs some country music education, so he was looking through his music for good songs. One that he played them was "Don't touch my Willie." It's about Willie Nelson, (I think). So he was singing it to Peyton and she starts singing along "Don't touch my Willie!!!" Then she says to Matt, "Wait, daddy, what's a willie??" To which he just starts laughing. Then finally explained that it's a person. I told him this is all his fault. When she goes to Preschool Thursday and tells someone not to touch her Willie. They will really wonder what we are teaching her at home! Kalee was laughing so hard by the time they were done with their round that Matt had to hold her up and she wasn't so much on his feet anymore.

Clean, SO CLEAN!!

Image
Yesterday, Mom, Mandy, and Kate came over to help me clean and get the house put back together. Adam, Ava, and Lily also came (of course!). It was wonderful!! We got the house cleaned in no time. It is so nice to have help and adult conversation! Even the ceiling fans are clean...something I usually overlook (I know, not something I am proud of! But in my defense, they are usually on, so I don't notice the layers of nastiness that have built up! Ignorance is Bliss!). Maybe this should be something we do every year, season, month...whatever! What do you think family?? I am sure they are all reading this thinking "Never again, not a chance!" I did feed them lunch. I even made pumpkin cake for Adam...it's one of his favorites. We also started priming the stairway. I have never primed anything before, I guess. I didn't realize how thick and annoying it is to use. I have one more wall to finish, then I can finally finish painting. It was Lily's first time at Aunt...

Runaway

I think Peyton ran away for the first time today. She is 3 years and 8 months old. Our conversation went something like this: S: Peyton, pick up your toys and put your back pack and coat in your room. P: I don't want to. S: Too bad. Do it. P: I am going to pack. I am going to a hotel! And off she went to her room, muttering the whole time. She came out a few minutes later and picked up her stuff! Not sure if this counts as running away, but it's pretty close, I would say. She apparently hasn't realized that Grandparents houses are a lot cheaper than hotels. I wonder if she packed her piggy bank!!

Oh, Peyton...

We had a funny this morning. The other day, I was trying to get out the door to get Peyton to school. I was carrying Kalee, my purse, Kalee's breakfast and drink...my hands were full. Matt had put his ladder in the way of the garage door, so I couldn't get out. I said something like Your stinking Daddy, he left his ladder right in our way! to Peyton. So this morning, Matt is helping us out to the van. He takes Peyton and Kalee downstairs. I hear Peyton telling him something in her honest, no messing around voice. He starts laughing and yells that I need to hear what she just told him. Apparently, she said, "You need to start putting your things away, Daddy. Mommy doesn't like it and it makes her really grumpy!" So I said you think I'm grumpy? She says, "No, things Daddy does just make you grumpy!" Oh, Peyton, you are the light of my life. She just cracks me up. She went off to school today. They are having a St. Patrick's Day fu...

Crappy Appliances...Problems for this Domestic Diva!

I've been working on Trivia questions today. Good times. I hope I have thought of some fun categories for this year's trivia night. Should be a fun time! So like I've said before...get your team together and come play!!! We went to the Chiropractor today. I love it there. I always feel so good after I leave. So I am going to run tonight. It will be awesome, I just know it. I am doing some positive thinking and visualization...OK, so not really, but maybe I should! We went to Gma Joan's last night for supper. It was good...it always is! The girls always have fun when we visit. I think the novelty of different toys is enough to keep them happy for a few hours at least! Peyton was happy to show off her glasses to Gma! Because we were visiting, I missed Biggest Loser. We got home in time for me to see Mandi vote herself off. I guess I need to spend some time reading the synopsis of last night's show to see what else went on. Interesting! I have decided ...

Dancing With...Peyton and Kalee!!

Image
The excitement continues in the Hinds' house with the return of our other favorite show...Dancing With the Stars!!! This is truly Peyton's favorite show, and maybe Kalee's now too. They were both dancing around the living room tonight. It was pretty cute. I am even more excited about this season because Holly is on the show. I love her. (Not as much as I love Bridget, but DEFINITELY more than Kendra!) She wasn't all that great tonight. I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt and hope for better things next week. She did only have 5 days to learn it all!! The Bull Rider was also the cutest thing ever. But I admit that I may have a thing for just about any bull rider/cowboy...it's that whole Oklahoma influence thing! I was very impressed by the Bachelor girl...until she said she had previous dance experience and was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. OK, I am still pretty impressed. Here is Peyton in her other "sensible" glasses. These are the spare in c...

GLASSES!!!!!

Image
Well, here she is, Miss Peyton with Glasses. I think she is pretty stinking cute. She LOVES them! I am so glad!! When I told her they were in and we got to go get them, she started jumping up and down and screaming! Then when we got to the office, she was so excited. The nurse asked her what she thought, and she said, "Pretty!!" We immediately went to surprise Daddy at the firehouse. He has not seen her in any glasses yet since he couldn't go shopping with us. He thought she was pretty cute. The other guys at the house were good to her too, they all made a big deal out of it and told her she was looking good! Then we went home to impatiently await Nan and Pop's arrival. She wanted to surprise them too, and had a plan all mapped out. She was going to hide in her room, behind the door. They were going to come in and say "Where is Peyton Mae?" Then she was going to jump out and say "Here I am!!" She of course would have her glasses behind her back, so...

Bobcat and the Park

Image
We went to the firehouse today on our way to the park. Matt's new firehouse is on the edge of Fairview Park...the "off road"area of the city. So the fire department bought a Bobcat to use in "off road" rescue. And who did they buy this Bobcat from? you might be asking...Well, Bobcat of Springfield, of course! It looks pretty nice, they have the Maltese Cross on the front and are going to do more lettering on the sides. But for some reason, the boys aren't happy... My guess is that they really want some Koozies to go with it. There are cup holders...so they must need Koozies. Or hats, you know because they don't always have to wear their helmets. They would settle for 3 XL t-shirts...but Matt says all they have is one key chain that they all have to share. If only they had some connections. What they really want to do is be able to finish up the lettering on the sides and pull it out in front of the station with the engine. Then they can take some picture...

Uneventful

Not much is going on here. We played outside most of today. I made a picnic lunch so we could go to the park after I picked Peyton up from preschool. We went to sit down at the picnic tables and were about blown away. So we ended up sitting in the back of the van to eat our food. Then the girls played for awhile. It was so crazy windy. Then we went home, had naps and went back outside for the rest of the afternoon. I picked up more dog poop, oh the joys of nice weather and playing in the yard! I made a nice pork loin for dinner. It was pretty good if I do say so myself. Now we are Wii'ing. We are addicted! I love unlocking new things and can't wait to reach my 10 hours of Wii fitness so I can get a better piggy bank according to Mindy! Oh my god, Peyton just got caught picking her nose and eating it. Yuck! Luckily Matt caught her in time...she didn't really eat it, she was caught in the act of putting it in her mouth. Still no glasses. Apparently we are now on the 12 day sc...

To be continued?!?!

Well, I am upset that Biggest Loser ended with a To Be Continued... last night. I don't enjoy that! Here is my theory. Mike (who looked like he was about to throw up the whole weigh-in...it was kind of humorous) is going to lose enough to make the 77 pounds. There was no voting out, so they just continued it because there was nothing else to do. Otherwise, if he didn't, then Laura can just kiss her Biggest Loser time goodbye. I think Aubrey can go too. I am tired of hearing all about how she has 5 kids...We got it the first 500 times you said it. We understand that you have 5 kids! I still want Kristin to win. I can't wait to see what happens next week with the Jillian blow up! I am so addicted to this show! Matt is working overtime today. So it's just the girls for another day. I worked on the living room some more. Hanging some pictures back up...I got out the level, tape measure, everything! And I think they look good. I will post pictures of the fini...

Paint, Poor Josh, Kalee's fits, and Yummy Recipes

I have not been a good blogger the last few days. I have been keeping myself busy painting. I got the brown finished and am going to pull off all the tape this morning and move back the furniture. I hope to also hang some pictures, but am really not very good at that, so we will see! I love the brown color. It is so pretty! I trimmed out all the green that I could. Matt is still working on the stairway walls, so I just did the hallway again. Maybe I will roll it this afternoon when the girls are sleeping. I also need to give Harley a bath. He is not a red dog anymore...more of a red, brown and green dog. He has some trouble keeping away from fresh paint. I guess to be smart, I will wait until I am done with the hallway before washing him! I just heard that Steve's cousin, Josh was in a bad accident early Sunday morning. He rolled his truck about 4 times--he was thrown from the truck and the truck landed on its wheels. He has a broken pelvis/hips in three places, a gas...
