Painting dilemma solved!

Thank you everyone for the opinions on my decorating dilemma! I decided to do chocolate brown in the dining and living room and a light green color (sort of like the blog background) in the hallway and stairs. I started painting the brown today while the girls are napping. I LOVE IT!!! It is going to be SO MUCH BETTER than the Tiffany's box blue. I am probably going to keep all my black frames. We'll see how it all comes together. All the trim in our house is white, but we will see. I also found curtains at Lowe's...they are a perfect match to the red furniture and have a pretty paisleyish print in brown! So next paycheck, I am all over that! I think it will use the Tiffany Box blue and do something fun in Peyton's room. Maybe put some blocks of color on one wall or something. We'll see what happens! We went to Mom and Dad's last night for dinner with Stacey. I made her a cake and Peyton and Kalee helped decorate it with sprinkles and sugar things. ...

Opinions Please!

I need some opinions. I am scrapping my color choice. Apparently what looked so good in theory, sucks in real life. I don't want to live inside a Tiffany box. So what is the overall opinion on chocolate brown and black. Basically all the picture frames I have in the living room are black. Do we think it is acceptable to have black frames on chocolate walls? Or do I need to paint all my frames white? I went to the doctor this morning for my throat. I guess I have some sort of bronchial thing. He said my lungs sound bad...whatever that means. So I got meds. The only good thing is that I got a $10 Target gift card out of the whole deal because I had a new prescription and a coupon! Peyton had a play date with Maddie across the street. I took her over and Peyton turned to me and said, "You can leave now." So I left and she played. They had a good time. They gave each other makeovers...Peyton came home with Purple eye shadow and lots of sparkles!

Paint

Well, we went to the store to get rollers for the paint. I finished the hallway and am not too sure I like the color now. I thought I was getting a greenish color, actually a lot like the color of my blog background. Turns out it looks more like a Tiffany box. It actually looks like Peyton's room only a shade lighter. Crap. CRAP! If only there were time to run to Lowe's, buy another color and get it painted before Matt came home from work in the morning. Especially since he didn't like the color when I picked it anyway. We'll see how I feel about it in the morning with sunlight and it being completely dried. It is a pretty color, obviously I like it if I painted Peyton's room like it, but it's definitely not what I was wanting. I am also afraid it won't go too well with my red furniture. Sigh...

It's such a nice day!

We have had a busy day today. It is so nice out!! We got a message from Matt at the firehouse that he forgot it was Ash Wednesday, so he needed to change his menu. Could I go to the store and get him some fish?? So we went to the store and got stuff for a firehouse fish fry. Then Peyton took us to the self check out and scanned everything and bagged it. This is one of her favorite things to do. And since we only had a few items and we were in no hurry, it was the perfect day for her to do it! That girl is so savvy when it comes to anything electronic, I tell you what!! Then we went to the firehouse and dropped off all 3 bags...5 items, 3 bags...that's what happens when Peyton bags for you. One bag for each kind of item! Matt's new station is right next to the park, so we went and ran and played at the playground. Kalee was extremely excited! She got to slide. For the last month or so, every time we would pass a playground in the van, she would yell "SLIDE!!!...

Another funny

Another funny thing happened today with Peyton...she says the best things! We were in Aldi grocery shopping. Now I enjoy Aldi...you can't beat the prices and I have really been trying to cut down on out grocery bill, but I also always feel slightly white trash every time I go in there. anyway, so this didn't help. They have an alcohol area. Peyton walks by and starts saying, "This is the stuff we buy for Daddy!" Keep in mind she is NOT using her inside voice! "Daddy LOVES beer!! He always likes to drink it!" The even funnier thing was that she was standing next to the wine coolers, pointing to them and being so sure that this is what Daddy drinks! Let me assure you that Matt is not a wine cooler drinker. NOT AT ALL!!

GRRR...

I don't enjoy how when you add pictures, it messes up all your text and formatting. Does anyone know how to make it look right when you post publish your post? I get it to look good when I am typing it, then it all screws up when it's published. Suggestions??

Poop and other randomness

Image
Well, I tried typing this once already today, but for some reason, I lost it. Only proving yet again that computers hate me. HATE ME!! So I will try again. Though I am sure I will not be nearly as witty as I was the first time... Conversation in the van today while we were running errands: P: Where are we going next Momma? S: We need to get gas in the van. P: What do you mean gas? Like when you poop, you have gas? Then later on our way home from the grocery store. Peyton is into salami and loves to go to the deli to get "Her Hard Salami." P: "I can't wait to get home so I can eat this salami. Then I will poop it out later." Apparently we are fixated on poop today. Interesting. But in this house poop is always funny. That's Matt's influence right there! Other randomness...Not much is going on today, so random thoughts it is! We love our Harley dog. Kalee especially! He is the most patient Dog ever!! This picture is to prove to Mary that ...

White Cow, Brown Cow

Image
So we had a pretty busy weekend. We went to Gma and Gpa's house Saturday afternoon and hung out with Gma for a few hours. I helped her hang one of those vinyl letter sayings on her living room wall. It looks very professional if I do say so myself! Then we were off to Nan and Pop's house for our play date with Stacey. Peyton had her Posh Bedroom Game and was ready to play! We also brought the Wii so everyone could share in the fun! We had supper and a rousing game of Posh Bedroom, which Peyton won! All the kids were very enthusiastic about it! Good times. Then we set up the Wii. We all had a blast playing. I do think that Pop was the most excited about it. Our favorite game by far is cow racing. For those of you who aren't familiar, your Mii rides a white cow or brown cow through a race course trying to get the most scare crows knocked down and also jumping over fences. I never knew it would be so freaking hilarious to have my Mii ride a cow and jump fences, but it was. We ...

Why? Why? Why?

All Kalee is saying these days is Why? Why? Why? I forgot how much they like to say it. I can handle it for the first few hundred times, then it starts to get a little bit annoying. last night I was rocking her to sleep and with each rock, she would say WHY? This went on for about 10 minutes. WHY? WHY? WHY? Good times!

Wii, Wii, Wii!!!

We have had a fun day here in the Burg. Matt didn't have to work, so that was exciting to have him home. We all went to pick up Peyton from school and she was very excited to see Daddy. "I didn't know you were coming!!" followed by her little hehe laugh with her hand over her mouth and nodding her head. (If you've ever seen her do it, you know what I am talking about!) Then we went to Target and bought Wii Play!! Now we have 2 Wii-motes (as Matt informed me they were called. Thanks JimBo, our Wii expert) and are ready for a party! We also went to Office Depot to look for baby shower invite paper for Baby B! I am super excited about the paper I found...it's perfect, and was 60% off since the store is going out of business. So if you need any office supplies, photo paper, etc, that is the place to go. They have some pretty good deals right now! We then came home have basically been playing Wii all afternoon. I realize that my lack of video game training is hurti...

Glasses and Preschool Screaming!

Well I know it's been a few days and everyone is dying for an update...at least that's what the last three people who were forced to talk to me on the phone instead of just reading about my life on the computer said! We have been busy the last few days. We went glasses shopping Wednesday. We went to one store, Peyton was very excited to try everything on. She was a little model, putting them on, walking to the mirror, telling me I couldn't look until she decided if they were cute or yuck. Kalee on the other hand, was having a horrible time...all those glasses to touch and look at, and she had to stay in the stroller. So thankfully, Mary was able to play with Kalee for the morning and I was able to focus on Peyton! THANK YOU MARY!!! So we ended up going to 5 stores and trying on 100's of pairs of glasses. We might have made a mistake telling her we would try on everything until she found the perfect pair! By the 4th store, she was losing her excitement, by the ...

My poor Peyton

We went to the opthomologist. And the news is this...Peyton needs glasses. She has very healthy eyes, but is farsighted and has lazy eyes. There is a medical term for lazy eyes, but I can't remember it and no one but Kari will know what it means anyway! She needs glasses to correct her vision and they will hopefully strengthen her eye muscles and keep them from turning in. If not, she will need surgery to correct them. Just like Uncle Goo! She did very good at the appointment. They were all very nice and you could tell they deal with kids a lot. Everything was a game, princess references were everywhere, and there was magic, pirates, mickey mouse. She had a good time except for the eye drops to dilate her pupils. She cried and we had to hold her down. Not fun. They were all closed up by the time we finished, so we will go back tomorrow to look at glasses and see what she likes. She has already told her Daddy that she wanted Barbie ones. Whatever she wants! Matt got ...

Better Day so Far...it's only 8:40 am

It is 8:40 in the morning and so far, knock on wood, we have had no break downs, no fits, and no crying. HOORAY!! Yesterday by this time, all hell had broken loose at least 3 times. So far so good! Kalee didn't sleep very much last night again. So I am pretty tired. I will be looking forward to nap time today. Hopefully we can all have a little snooze. It will be an early nap time today so that Peyton will be rested for her eye appointment. We were talking about it this morning and she seems pretty excited. Unfortunately, the Berenstain Bears don't go to the optometrist...at least not at the Burg library, so we have just been talking about things. I honestly don't really know what goes on at the optometrist. I only remember going a few times in my life...I have perfect vision. hehe! Keep your fingers crossed that she doesn't freak out. She gets very shy around new people and cries and won't let go of me. So we'll see! Matt smacked my butt this morning and Peyton...

Good Mom...not so much today.

I like to think that most days I am a pretty good mom. I hope I am at least. But today is not one of those days. I have lost all of my patience. I've got nothing left. I am so tired of having sick, grouchy, whiny, clingy kids. Why, oh why can't they just get better? I ended up taking Kalee to the doctor again yesterday. She has an ear infection and croup. She is horribly clingy and cries pretty much nonstop. You must have the patience of a saint to not get frustrated with this. I realize that she is sick. She doesn't feel good and that is why she is acting like this. But jeez, that doesn't help me any. I really am starting to wonder if she even remembers what it feels like to be well. I can't wait for the day that she is actually well again. Can't wait! Peyton is feeling better, but is still doing this whining, talking like a baby crap. I get so annoyed by it. I know she knows how to talk...don't act like you are a mute and point and whine. Seriously. Save t...

Stupid Holiday...

I guess I have missed blogging the last few days. I just really don't have that much to say. Not too much has been going on. Peyton has finished her rounds of antibiotics, and is feeling better. Kalee Jo is feeling sick again. She has a horrible cough, runny nose and had a slight fever yesterday and this morning. This afternoon the fever is gone. I don't know what I am going to do with this girl. She has honestly had about a week of feeling good in the last three months. Poor thing. So she is pretty crabby and all around not too fun to be around. Plus, she is back to not sleeping all that well, so that means momma is not sleeping well either. Oh when will Spring get here?? We went to Nan and Pop's yesterday. Pop needed a haircut, he was looking pretty rough. So the girls had fun visiting. Life is always funner at Nan and Pop's house. We were all in the car and Peyton wouldn't stop talking. Mom was saying how she thinks it is impossible that Mary has...

AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

AAAHHHH!! That's how I have felt most of today. Crying kids, whining kids, grumpy hubby, sick, runny noses...the list goes on and on. So I guess it could be said that once again, we are having a day. I don't know what Peyton's deal is. She is a crab. She keeps whining and throwing fits. She just got sent to bed and screamed for a good 15 minutes. I choose to ignore behavior like that. So just let her scream away in her bed. She is asleep now. I guess that may be mean, but am NOT going to give her what she wants when she acts like that. GRRR. Kalee is clingy today. Her nose is running so I am sure the sickness that won't leave this house has returned to her. She was well for at least 5 days. Woo Hoo! Then Matt was home today and got to experience it all first hand as well. So I guess I shouldn't say that he is the only grumpy one, I am grumpy too. So I am going to run and get over it. ******* We had a fun day yesterday. Maybe that's why they ...

Run...

Image
Megan and I ran the race course yesterday. Well, most of it anyway. I was good until about mile 6, then my back was hurting so bad it was ridiculous. We ended up going around 11 miles. With me pathetically saying can we skip the Lincoln Park circle?? PLEASE?? So today I am pretty sore, but mostly my back. Ice and tylenol are a great thing! I think I proved to myself that I will be able to do it, just need to keep training! Megan could have done the whole thing. She's a total bad ass! Nicole...train for some hills! They are a few and they are all after mile 6. So you can get into your groove and then get all screwed up running the hills! But the end is back in town and flat again, so the finish is easier! I am pretty excited for April 4th. I will be able to finish!! ****** We spent time outside Saturday, like I said before. The girls both got scooter things for Christmas, and finally got to play with them in a bigger area than the living room/dining room/kitchen circuit they ha...

Guess we will stay home...

Well, just looked it up and croup is contagious (or so more than one website says). So looks like our weekend just got pretty boring. Great.

Never ending sickness

Kalee Jo is feeling much better these days. She is finally done with her meds and her BM's are back to normal. Thank God! Unfortunately, we spend an hour at the express care tonight with Peyton. Of course Matt is at work, so something had to happen. She has had a bad cough for a few weeks. I always feel bad letting it go that long, but the doctor keeps saying coughs linger and there's nothing we can do. Well, every time, it turns into something more. So she has a double ear infection and croup. She has had croup before, so it is not as scary this time. I don't like when she does her seal bark cough. But she has never has an ear infection before. She is now on 3 different kinds of meds. Will it ever end?!? ****** We spent some time outside today. Not as much as I would have liked, but even though it was warm, it wasn't overly warm and I didn't think Peyton needed to be out too much. I did spend most of my time outside picking up dog crap. One thing I ...

My back update

I went to the Chiropractor yesterday. Love her! She said I popped a rib out or sprained a rib...I don't really understand, but she put me back in place and gave me some nice shock therapy!! Now that is the best thing ever! So I am feeling better, but still sore. I go back tomorrow, so am looking forward to it. I have decided to not run until Saturday when Meg and I do the race route. It's supposed to be really nice out, so I am looking forward to being outside and running. Hopefully it won't rain on us! ****** I just heard Peyton ask Kalee if she wanted to go to Vegas with her. Where did she get that one?

I learned something new today.

Peyton had school today. She made a groundhog craft...a colored groundhog on a stick that she pushed up out of his hole, a paper cup. So I asked her to tell me what she learned about Groundhogs. This is what she told me: "Groundhogs live in holes until their alarm clocks go off. They go there in the fall but are very worried about Christmas. So sometimes they wake up for Christmas and they stop worrying when there are presents, but if there aren't presents, they just worry and worry. Christmas is important to them. They worry about it." So that's new to me. Here I thought they were supposed to pop out of their holes on Feb 2 and tell us if spring was coming. Interesting. ****** Kalee and I resumed our Mall walking schedule today. It was a packed house this morning. There were even a few other younger people. A few young couples even, and a few other ladies pushing strollers. There is this Asian woman who walks around the place pumping her arms up abov...

Bye Bye

Joelle is GONE!!! WOO HOO!!! I am so happy with how the Biggest Loser turned out last night. I am so glad Joelle is gone. I was completely annoyed by her. I am sorry that Carla had to go also because she really wanted to be there. I did think it was pretty funny, though slightly sad, how everyone was so mean about Joelle and how when they were leaving, no one even talked to her. They all ignored her and hugged Carla. Oh well. She pretty much deserved it for being so selfish and lazy. What a waste of a wonderful experience for her. ****** We are headed to Nan and Pop's today! Megan is coming home this afternoon. We were going to go to the airport and get her, but pretty much everyone wanted to go and I didn't see the point in caravaning down to St. Louis. Plus, I don't want to drive so far...the whole back thing. So we are going to Pawnee to wait it out there! Then the girls will have good naps and be ready to play. The first thing Peyton said this morning wa...

I Hurt

I hurt my back. It hurts bad. I can hardly nod my head without it hurting. I don't know what happened. But it hurts in case you didn't get that. I took some drugs and have been laying on a heating pad, so it is feeling a little better. I need to run, but just don't know if that will happen tonight. This puts a cramp in my training! (That's my sob story of the day.) ****** Last night Matt was telling me how he just puts Kalee in bed and she stays there and will fall asleep. So I let him show me. Well, he put her in and she started crying and crying. Then we heard her get up. She went into the bathroom...don't know what she did in there. But she came out and closed the door, then went back to bed. We then heard her yelling Blankies, Blankies!! Stuck, Stuck! So Matt went in and got her blankies unstuck and put her back down. She cried some more, then we saw her nightlight go out and heard her door slam shut. She then went into Peyton's room and had a chat with Peyt...

I know you are all wondering...

The poop saga continues...I know you are all wondering how Kalee is doing, and I am happy to report that after two days of Dan Active, Kalee is enjoying a firmer poo. We haven't had a blow out in two days! Hooray! Although now that I have written that, I am sure she will have one within the next 30 minutes. Thanks Kari for the suggestion!!! ****** I don't have much to report here today. We are having a lazy day. The girls both woke up before me and I jumped awake at 8:30 wondering why they hadn't woken up yet. I ran out to check on them and they were sitting in the living room eating spin wheels and watching cartoons. Apparently Daddy has set them up before he left for work. I am feeling irresponsible since I didn't hear them and wake up. But I guess they were fine, so I won't worry about it too much. I did end up watching some of the Super Bowl. Mainly because there was nothing else on our 5 channels. I ran for an hour and a half and listened to my mus...

Good Day

I forgot to mention the best parts of my day...Matt made me breakfast in bed this morning. It was awesome. Then Peyton made me a birthday cake and sang to me. Maybe a little belated, but the thought was still sweet! ~~~~~ I just ran 8 miles. 8 MILES! I am feeling very proud of myself right now. Megan, I am looking forward to our run!

Busy Weekend

Image
Well, we have had a busy weekend! Friday, I had to go to the doctor. So the girls went to Nan and Pop's house while I was gone. We got to hear all about the Mexico trip. I would say mom and dad had a great time. Mom showed me some pictures and everything was beautiful. Their room looked right out to the ocean. Paradise! They went to some park while they were there and apparently there are huge iguanas walking around all over the place. What a nightmare to me! YUCK! They brought back cute little hats for the girls. Mom gave Peyton hers...a nice, butterfly, then gave Kalee hers. I looked at it and then asked Mom why in the world she bought a snake hat to give to my child!! She looked at it and said that she thought it was a dragon. Well, it's not, it is a snake. Kalee is lucky I even let it in the house! She thinks it's awesome, so I will live with it. I won't be touching it though! Which reminds me that the girls both like snakes. When we go into pet stores or to the zo...
