Firehouse, panties, and Barbie memories
The firehouse stories have begun...Matt worked Monday. He came into the station and the crew that was getting off was complaining about a terrible stench in the dorm. They knew there had been some mouse issues in the house, and had been trying to get rid of it, so they thought maybe one died somewhere. So Matt said he went upstairs to look around. He walked into the room and said the smell was HORRIBLE! He can't figure out how those guys slept there all night. He looked around and didn't find a mouse. Instead, under someones bed, he found a container of chicken livers. Someone had taken it, cut a hole in the lid and left it in there under a guys bed so it would rot and smell. DISGUSTING!! I told you they were brutal.
Peyton got a bunch of princess dress up clothes for Christmas and has really been enjoying them. She wears them pretty much every day. She is Princess Peyton and proud of it.
Today, I was sitting in the living room playing Barbies with Kalee. Yes, Stacey, I am able to nicely play Barbies with my children. I know, it's hard to believe. Anyway, I notice Peyton down the hall going back and forth from her room to me and Matt's room. We have full length mirrors in our bedroom. For Christmas, she also got 6 pairs of Princess high heels, a different princess on each pair, and 7 pairs of princess underwear. She was matching her shoes with her undies and going back and forth looking at herself in the mirror. Quite the fashion statement. She is so funny because she will look at herself and talk. "Oh, that is Incredible!" "I need to change this immediately!" or my favorite, "America's Next Top Model is...PEYTON!!! (as she steps in front of the mirror and does her Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Pose...one arm on hip, one arm on head!)" Those Fancy Nancy books have given her a posh vocabulary! Ooh La La!
Back to the Barbies for a minute. We don't really play. We undress...Over and over and over and over again. Santa bought Kalee this doll for Christmas that is an easy to dress doll. You just clip on the clothes and velcro. Very simple. But does she like to dress her...only sometimes. She mostly prefers Barbies. I just don't remember them being so hard to dress. I must be out of practice. Or maybe Stacey and I never really got to the whole dressing and undressing part of our Barbie playing. We would "play" together by setting out every Barbie item we had and then we would take turns picking what each of us got to play with. Usually, by the end of the picking, we had had a fight and were yelling and crying, so not much playing got done. Man I hope Peyton and Kalee aren't like that!!! Love you Stacey (now that we are older)!
Today I have been sweeping. I may have the cleanest floors in all of Warrensburg. I got a sweeper for Christmas and it is amazing. I am a total domestic goddess at this point. The girls want to eat their snack in the living room...sure, I can just sweep up the crumbs. Harley wants to sleep on the couch...sure, it's amazing with dog hair. Matt is mad at Mom and Dad because they are the ones who bought it for "us". He and I don't usually buy each other Christmas presents, but this year, for some reason, he bought me some. Good ones too...a Garmin and a gun: a Beretta 92 FS 9mm (that's right, don't mess with this girl!). I am super excited about both of them. I am hopeless at directions. He is so cute because he even loaded all this stuff onto it. He put in all the addresses of places I go, and added all these icons so the car driving on the map isn't just the one everybody who owns a Garmin has. I have an inferno red mini van, a firetruck, all sorts of options. He's such a gadget lover. And the gun I have wanted for awhile. So that's very exciting! But anyway. He thinks he was outshone by the vacuum, in his mind the one thing a husband is NOT supposed to buy his wife (even though she would have loved it). He says he is never buying me presents again and it's all mom's fault. Mom says he should not worry. The Garmin and Gun will always be fun things to have. Soon, the vacuum will turn into regular housework and not be used unless company is coming over. So let's all keep our fingers crossed that Matt will get over it and I will get more Christmas presents in the future. I reminded him that Diamonds would forever outshine a vacuum!!
