Birthdays and Rain

We had yet another busy weekend. It started with a super wonderful trip to the Pageant in St. Louis to see Ragweed with my favorite brothers and sister in laws. If you want to read all about it, see Goo's blog. There is really no point in typing it all again since I was going to say the same things he already did. The highlights...Carney Man and 3 St. Louis Cardinals waving at our group. The bad part, the stupid Garmin Bitch (Ty's name for her, not mine) who couldn't get us to the concert, and the crappy gay opening band. Oh well, all in all, it was a really fun night! Can't wait til June 19th at the Sangamon County Fair when we'll be seeing them again!!

Sunday we went to two birthday parties. Ava's was first. She got lots of good presents, her favorite probably being a dress up clothes chest from A. Stacey (super cool favorite). She immediately put an entire outfit on. She had a crown, dangling 80's earrings, bracelets, shirt, skirt, fairy wings...we nixed the high heels. Didn't think she should risk tripping and falling! It's a little nerve wracking being around her and trying to make sure she is careful. She just has no fear! I had to have a long talk with Peyton in the van on the way to her party to make sure that she realized that she could not hug Ava like she usually does. The girls all say that Peyton is a fierce hugger. She grabs on and usually ends up pulling whoever she is hugging to the floor. Unacceptable in Ava's current condition! So I was very proud of her for holding back! Then we went on to Tim's 30th birthday party. It was fun. It's always so nice to see all our friends. We don't see them very often, so it's nice when we do. By the time we got home, the girls were exhausted, so was mommy!

Poor Kalee looks like she has some weird disease. She got a ton of bug bites this weekend. Thanks to her overly sensitive skin, she swelled up like crazy where the bites were. Her poor wrist had about 7 bites all in one area and it looked horrible. I finally called the doctor yesterday to make sure there wasn't something else I should be doing for her. They said to give her some benadryl and let her sit in a baking soda bath. So the swelling has gone down a little more today, but now they are looking bruised. I need to find some good bug repellent. They said she can't have anything with Deet, so good luck finding that.

Matt got a pool from one of the firemen, so now we have a pool. I call it a fake pool. It's one with the blow up ring on top. But it will be cool and wet, so super! We didn't want one that was too deep anyway for the girls. Now Peyton asks every day at least 100 times "can we swim?" NO!! It's freezing and Mommy isn't getting in there! So for now the kiddie pool will have to do because 70 degrees is not my idea of a good time!

We are having to do some repairs on the house. We have water damage in the basement above the back window. Apparently when they put in the screen door upstairs and put the deck on, they did not do it correctly. So Matt now has a hole cut in the wall and ceiling of the basement and we took the sliding door out. There is a hole from under the door into the basement where the water has gotten in and rotted the wood away. Matt thought he was going to have to take the deck down, take off the siding and replace the wood sheeting where ever it was rotten...this includes into the dining room floor, so that includes taking up the flooring (tile). He called from the firehouse yesterday and thinks he may have a less involved plan after talking to one of the guys who actually knows about carpentry. So we'll see what happens. We are having a family party for Kalee's birthday Saturday, so now Kevin and Tyler are going to be put to work. Poor guys. Guess I'll stock up on beer. Matt wants to get it fixed before we go to Alabama. I want it fixed ASAP!! I am tired of walking downstairs and out the garage to let Harley outside. If he doesn't get it fixed soon, I am putting in a doggy door!!
