I love summer weather!
Not much is going on today. We played most of the day outside (which is why I don't post as often now. When it's cold, it's easy to sit by the computer, but it's a lot nicer to be outside!!). The girls were back in the swimming pool this afternoon. At least it was some what warm by the time they got back in. It is already filled with grass and starting to look dirty. They don't understand the whole wash your feet off before getting back in concept. Oh well, that's what nets are for. I sat in my chair and worked on my tan a little more! I think that I may actually be pretty tan by the time we leave for Alabama. Hopefully I won't blend in with the white sands!
We went to the store this morning. Ava requested a strawberry cake with purple icing and horses. So I got ingredients for that. I told her I like a challenge. She will be getting a strawberry poke cake with horse figurines. There isn't much out there for decorating with horses!
Peyton's new love is cooking shows. We get about 4 channels after this whole digital switch thing. 3 of them are PBS...one is a PBS channel called Create. You might say it's the HGTV, TLC, and Food Network channel of the non cable world. But anyway, she loves to watch them. She even prefers to sit and watch them cook in the morning instead of her regular cartoon time. So now she is also playing "cooking show" a lot. She gets pots and pans, spoons, etc and "makes" stuff with blocks, toys, anything she can get her hands on. Outside she uses rocks and sand. The play house floor is littered with sand and rocks. It's cute to listen to her talking to her audience. She tells you exactly what she is doing and with what measurements and everything. It's cute.
Matt and I took a hunter's safety class the other weekend. I have to admit that I actually kind of enjoyed myself. Some parts were horribly boring, but mostly it was very interesting. I learned a lot, I think. Plus, I got a perfect score on my test, while Matt, Mr. smarty pants, missed one. So that gives me something to brag about. We did decide that instead of taking the 12 hours that it took to complete the class, it could have been condensed into about 2 hours if all the teachers strictly told us what we needed to know instead of telling all of their best hunting stories. But anyway, I now have a patch that says I passed a Hunter's Safety course and can apparently get a hunter's license. I highly doubt I will be getting one, but it's good to have, I guess. I mainly wanted to go for a gun safety lesson.
I am so excited to be going on vacation. I have started making my lists. I am very much a list person. I like to be organized.
We finally got the appraisal done on our house. I think our bank is the slowest bank in the world. No matter what you want done, it takes them ages to finish it. We are refinancing our mortgage. It feels pretty good to know that we will be able to own our house in 8 years. Not too shabby if you ask me! Plus a month without a house payment. Looks like the van will be getting some new tires! Responsibility sucks sometimes.
