4th of July Weekend
We have had a busy weekend. It was fun, but I can honestly say I'm glad it's over! I am worn out!! Thank goodness Matt was home today...I got to sleep in til 8:30!! Yay!

We had a good time at Mr. Burton's retirement roast. Mr. Smargiassi stole the show with his roast. He was hilarious as usual!! I got to see Amanda B. who I haven't seen in years since she lives in Texas. The girls had fun at Kate and Steve's house. They love playing with Lily Mae! Kate said she put Lily in her bouncy seat and left the room. When she came back all she could see was Lily's little face...the girls had piled on as many toys as possible so Lily could play!!
Friday was Extravaganza '09. Matt spent the day (he got up at 5 am) smoking brisket and ribs. They were awesome!! So yummy! The kids spent the day swimming in Nan's freezing cold pool. The boys spent the day getting fireworks ready. They always have fun lighting them off. It seems like Tyler came away the worst this year...he tried to brush sparks off his head with the hand that was holding the punk...he might have a bit of a burn spot and some singed hair! They usually all end up with at least some singed area! Most of the kids liked the fireworks. Kalee hates them. She cried and cried and repeated over and over Back House!! She wanted to be inside. So we went in. She and Harley hid out in Nan and Pop's room! Harley hates all things that are loud!!

The Kids Swimming

Peyton was worn out!!
I just realized that only the older kids are represented in my 4th pictures! I guess I forgot about taking pictures once it got later! Sorry Lily Bug and Molly Jo!! I will do better next time!!

Yesterday we went to Mike and Caitlin's for a cookout...well, maybe it should be called a cook in since it was raining all day. Yummy food again! We played Battle of the Sexes...the girls rule...the boys suck! Then we went back to Pawnee for dessert at Mandy's house and fireworks. I am not really sure why they decided to light off the fireworks. There was such a haze from all the rain that you couldn't see anything. Every now and then the sky would turn a color and you could hear the booms, but it was pretty disappointing. Kalee once again spent the whole time inside. We watched Tarzan really loud!

Today I have decided that we are going to Menards and buying all we need to finish the house...mostly trim. So I need to get off of here and get ready to go. I have big plans for the day...Matt will be thrilled!!

Peyton quote of the day: After muttering to herself for awhile..."Mommy, I am saying bad words really quietly so you can't hear me!"
