Lily's Story

Here's the story of Lily Mae.

Kate and Steve on a break from walking the halls...Notice she is still all smiles!!

Kate went to into labor around 3:30 Wednesday morning. They decided to go to the hospital around 6. Both worried about not making it there in time! They got Kate in and hooked up to IV's. She was in a lot of pain, and apparantly passed out when they were doing the IV. They brought her back around and gave her some pain meds and she started to feel better. After that she was saying how she didn't want an epidural. Her nurse told her Honey, you aren't going to make it!! Well, she did make it until about 5pm, then needed the epi. From 4 to 10, nothing happened and the doctor came back in to check. She decided they needed to get the ultrasound because she suspected that Lily was face up instead of face down. She was and they tried to turn her. Kate finally said that's enough and they decided to go on with a C-Section. Steve got some fancy scrubs, hat and boot covers...that barely covered his work boots! So they got her ready and took her down to surgery. She was born at 11:16 and Steve got to wheel her out to see us on her way to be weighed 8 lb 6 oz and measured 20.5 inches. (Here they are as they walked out of the Operating Room!) Steve was a VERY proud Dad! And we were all very proud of Steve. He was very nervous, bless his heart! Lily was very alert. Eyes wide open looking around. She has dark hair and blue grey eyes. She had a 9-10 Apgar (that's for you Kari!! You will know exactly what all that means!) He got to hold her while Kate finished up in the Operating Room. He is a pro already! Then Lily and Steve went into recovery with Kate and Kate finally got to hold her. We all got to hold her at about 1:30 am when Kate got out of recovery. We left a very happy and tired Mommy and Daddy. (Here she is crying because she was taken away from her Favorite Aunt Shelly!!)

  2. She follows in the McTaggart tradition of being a Gerber Baby. Her mouth is so pretty. Please let Kate and Steve know we think she is beautiful!!!
