Santa, Snow and DCFS

Well, Kalee went to the doctor today for her check up and we weren't rushed by DCFS coming out of the office, so things are good. She is healthy except for a cough that is ongoing. She weighs 30 pounds and is 34 inches tall. She is "large, but proportionally large. Off the charts." The doctor says that every visit we have been to for both of the girls. I guess we grow monsters...my dreams for volleyball players are kept alive!! Though thanks to Mindy, Peyton is way more interested in cheerleading. NOOOO!!

Peyton had another sad morning with no Santa visit. This morning "it snowed. Santa comes when it snows. That's how the reindeer land. Why didn't he come???" I wonder how long this will last. But she did quickly move on to asking to go play in the snow. Now we got a dusting...not nearly enough to play in. So I am being a boring mom and keep offering her other things to do. I think it's supposed to snow more tonight. So maybe I'll buck up and take them out tomorrow. Another thing that is worrying her is that her snow boots don't fit anymore. She has awesome rain boots and super cute pink cowgirl boots, but "NO! They are not for snow. If they were for snow, they would be called snow boots." When did my 3 year old turn 30? I swear the girl has the most stubborn logic ever. Matt and I continually wonder why we thought it would be fun for them to talk. So maybe snow boots from the snow boot store will be on sale. I can only hope.

Matt bid to a new station this year. He now works at Station 3. It's by Millikin University. There are 4 guys there, all of them that he really likes and admires. So it should be a good time for him. I'm sure he'll have all sorts of stories. These guys are brutal to each other, so it could get interesting. He has been working on his recipe box since he says he is cooking. Mom gave him this little recipe card holder with a bunch of recipes and he has been adding to it. He's actually a really good cook. He says he will miss working with Doug, but they will be on the same shift so will see each other often I am sure.

I have been doing laundry today. Well, actually I feel like I do laundry every day. It is never ending. I asked mom when I was pregnant with Kalee how I was going to do it with 2 kids...how did she handle 5?? She said it's all the same, just more laundry. Jeez, she was so right! Plus Peyton wet the bed yesterday, Oh Joy, blankets, mattress pad, sheets, pillows...It was like she dumped a gallon bucket in the bed and on herself. All had to be washed, including Peyton Mae. We also put away the crib, so I washed all of the crib things to put away. Now that was sad for me. I can't believe we put it away and my girls are old enough for big beds. That crib has been up for three years...OK really 4 since pretty much as soon as the stick turned pink, I has the crib up for Peyton's arrival. Oh well, sometime we want to have another babe and it will come out again.

The children are napping now. Our doctor's visit threw off our day. It was right in the middle of nap time, so they are probably going to be out of sorts this evening. I better decide on something for supper...
