Back to normal

Life is getting back to normal around here. I have spent the last two days catching up on all the things I let go for the last week...laundry, grocery shopping, bills, mowing the yard, you know, the fun stuff!

I think the funeral luncheon ended up going very smoothly. We had plenty of food...so much that each station (there are 7) got dinner for the night also. So 3rd shift lucked out Tuesday with no cooking responsibilities all day long. The funeral was probably one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. It was amazing. They saved one who side of the church for fire department personnel and they all filed in together and took up the whole side. The procession to the cemetery was amazing. There were probably 15 firetrucks, ambulances, etc from surrounding towns involved in the procession. It is very humbling to see the support that everyone is willing to give to the family. It makes me so proud to be a part of the department.

I have a couple funnies. Kate watched Peyton and Kalee Tuesday. They played and had a good time all morning. Kate let Peyton call Nan at work around lunch time. Peyton was asking Nan what she was doing. Nan told her answering phones, talking to people, eating her lunch. So Peyton says to Nan "Actually Nan, I am starving!!" Kate said she burst out laughing and immediately started fixing them some lunch!!

Matt was giving Kalee a bath the other day and apparently passed gas in the bathroom. Kalee turns to him and says "Excuse you Daddy!!" Matt said he just burst out laughing because it sounded more like "Screw you Daddy!!" Both of which would have been appropriate for the situation if you ask me!!

I went to the firehouse Tuesday and Matt popped my blisters. He took a syringe and drained them both. It was pretty nasty. But I was able to run Tuesday without too much pain. I put gauze over them and taped them up. So I'll do that again tonight and then the race is on Saturday. I should be good to go. I told Chat that I might just be slower than I planned.

We went to watch Allie play softball yesterday. They won the game we saw. Allie is so awesome. She is Matt's cousin for those of you who don't know her. She plays ball for Robert Morris College. She pitches. Tara and Molly Jo were there. I got to hog Molly for most of the game. I guess Kate is right...I can be a baby hog when I want to be!! She is such a sweetie!! She slept most of the time and she just coos while she sleeps. I love it. She still has her full head of hair. Everyone comments on it. It reminds me of Peyton and Kalee's cheeks. Everyone who saw them would say look at those cheeks and then try to touch them. I think everyone who sees Molly says look at her hair!!

Tara and I were talking about going to look at the flower girl dress Friday with Peyton. I haven't mentioned the purple one in front of her lately. But yesterday she says, "I want the purple one!" Crap. Hopefully she won't be too disappointed!

Well, I better get ready to go get Peyton from school. She only has three more days left. She is done next Friday.

  1. I took Grace earlier this week to try on the flower girl dress. It's DARLING! I know it's not purple, but I think Peyton will love it. Grace said, "This is the prettiest dress I've ever seen!" Mindy did good! :)
