Busy, Busy, Busy
It's been a busy week or so here for me. The fireman I talked about in my last post passed away. So the Ladies Auxiliary is taking care of all the food for the funeral and visitation. Our president was out of state, so I was sort of in charge until she got back. I went to a few meetings with the Fire Chief and others to discuss the funeral arrangements. Wow, it's amazing, just amazing. There are many rules to follow and things to arrange. I don't know, I can hardly wrap my mind around it because the whole time I am selfishly thinking Thank God this isn't Matt. I told him this and he said "it's not like it matters because you will never have to go through this." I am not allowed to have a funeral for him unless he dies while on duty. He made me promise. Anyway, I spent all afternoon and evening at the church getting ready for the funeral luncheon tomorrow. We are expecting to feed 250 people, so it was a little crazy. Luckily, a lot of people are willing to help out!
The girls are staying at Nan and Pop's tonight. Hopefully they are being good. Mom has Lily also, so they better be good! Aunt Kate is going to watch them tomorrow. I am sure they will be happy to be around Lily. I am anxious to hear if Peyton just wanted to hold her the whole time. They are both getting a little confused about which baby is Lily Bug and which baby is Molly Jo. Peyton is having a hard time remembering Molly's name. She will say "now who is Tara's baby?" and Kalee will answer her "MOLLY!!"
We are meeting Tara Jo and Molly Jo for lunch and shopping on Friday. Mindy picked out a flower girls dress for Peyton, so we are going to go get that ordered. I am hoping Peyton won't remember the purple dress. We went looking before and let her try on whatever she wanted. She found one with a purple skirt and LOVED it. She wanted to order it and told Mindy she didn't like any of the other ones, she wanted the purple one. She was upset when we left the store without buying it. We told her we had to order the dress when Mindy picked one out and the lady at the store would call us when it was in. A few weeks passed and Peyton finally asked me "Did that lady call yet about my purple dress??" I was hoping she would forget. I should have known better. I guess this time we won't give her the option of trying on all that she wants, she'll have to stick to the one Mindy picked out!
I went running yesterday in some old shoes. My legs have been hurting, so I thought I would try different shoes. Well, MISTAKE!!! I now have HUGE blisters on both my heels. That will be fun as I run the Mrs. Clarke 5K Saturday morning. I'm going to have to pop them I guess. Maybe Matt will do that or Stacey could come over and take care of it for me. I know she would enjoy that. They are nasty. The one takes up my entire heel. Fun.
We went to a birthday party for Peyton's friend Kaiser yesterday. It was at the Bowling Alley. Those little kids were so cute trying to bowl. Peyton was so cute in her ugly bowling shoes! She would take the ball up to the lane, cradling it in her arms. Set it down, bend over and push it down the lane. I think only once did the ball actually stop before it got to the pins. She didn't care if any pins got knocked down, she would just push it down there, then turn around and run back jumping up and down. At one point, she even did this little touchdown dance/strut away from the lane. She had a good time. She wants to go again, she thinks she's better at the real thing than Wii bowling.
Katie says she is getting married in the spring or early summer of next year!! I am so excited!! She wants to do it outside on the OSU campus. They have a formal garden that is beautiful. Actually, that is where Matt proposed to me. So it will be wonderful I am sure!! I can't wait to see her and see her ring in person. She says it's gorgeous and Jeromy had it made just for her. Lucky girl!
