Mother's Day
I have been a horrible blogger recently. I will try to be better!
Let's see...We had another busy weekend. Matt is wishing for just one day, just one that we don't have something to do and we can just stay home! Friday the girls and I met Tara Jo and Molly Jo and had lunch at Los Agaves and looked at Peyton's flower girl dress. She was pretty happy with it. I guess it met 2 out of 3 of her main criteria...it was pretty and it twirled well, the only drawback was that it was white. Molly Jo was the cutest thing ever. She had on little khaki pants and a navy blue sweater...Tara said it was her school girl outfit. She was adorable.
We all ran (well, Matt and I ran, Matt pushed the girls) the Mrs. Clarke 5K Saturday morning. He left me within the first quarter mile. I ended up finishing in 31:45. I was pretty happy with that. Not my best time, but not my worst! My shins hurt so bad that I am just glad that I finished. The girls, Adam and Ava (and Davis!) all ran the 100 yard dash. They were all so cute!! Kalee was the cutest thing ever though! She was just chugging along. Everyone else finished and then here she still is, running along. We decided she was the only runner in diapers!! Matt ran along with her. We cheered her on and she thought that was pretty cool. They all got stars for participating, and Kalee kept hold of hers all day long. We had lunch at Nan and Pop's afterwards. Then played awhile before going home. Matt and I shot the 22 (is it supposed to be .22?? I don't know gun lingo) a few times. Our hunters safety class is this coming weekend, so I wanted to at least have shot one once or twice before that since I will have to shoot in front of other people!!
I was woken up on Mother's Day by a Peyton around 7. I rolled over and told Matt to get up...it's my day and I get to sleep in. He just laughed at me, rolled over and went back to sleep. I was persistent and he eventually got up. Not before I could prep Peyton by telling her it was Mother's Day and on that day, I got to have them cook for me, get me flowers, buy me presents and tell me they love me over and over. So she took Daddy into the kitchen and he made me pancakes, eggs, grapes and juice and brought it to me in bed. I even go flowers in a shot glass...He said Peyton made him get me some (they were cut out of the front flower bed!). Then he left me with a tray of food and two girls crawling all over me. I think I got a few bites of eggs and half a pancake. Peyton and Kalee got a pancake each, all my grapes, and most of my eggs. Then Kalee dumped my juice on the bedside table. It was still nice! Peyton sang me a little song. It was super sweet!! She learned it at school: It is May, It is May! Flowers bloom, Flowers bloom, Time to say I Love You, Time to say I Love You, Mother Dear, Mother Dear!! It was perhaps the highlight of my day! So I guess my prepping was worth it...3 out of 4 isn't too bad for a 3 year old!
We went to Joan's house Sunday for lunch with her, Grandma, Grandpa and Goo Goo. We were going around the room asking Kalee who everyone was and she got to Grandma Joan. I think we all expected her to say Grandma when we asked who that was. She pipes up "Joan" when we ask her! It was pretty funny. Maybe you had to be there to hear her sweet little voice calling her grandma by her name. I guess I always think it's funny when kids call their grandparents or parents by their names instead of Gma, Gpa, Mom or Dad!
The girls and I have played outside all day today. I am a little sun burned on my arms and chest. I want to get a little tan before we go to Alabama. I have been considering buying some tanning tickets, just so I won't fry on the beach once we get there. I will just stick to trying to get some sun while the girls play. Then maybe I won't scare everyone off the beach with my pasty whiteness...but I guess if I do that, there will be fewer people to see me in a swimsuit!
Well, I am off to bathe these dirty children. I just looked at Kalee's hands and her fingernails are crusted with dirt! Yuck!! Plus, Peyton keeps getting a rash from sunscreen if we leave it on her over night, so I better get that washed off.
