Matt Can Be Romantic...I know, Crazy!

I went canoeing with Stacey and some of her friends (a fun group!) this past weekend. We had a good time. The weather was beautiful for camping. Not so much for canoeing. It was a little chilly on the water, and yes, we did dump over once and had to make an emergency bail out once. I didn't see any snakes, so I consider it a very successful trip!

Peyton had an eye appointment Monday. It was a 4 month check of her glasses. The doctor said she was doing very well. She said that hopefully in time, she won't have to wear glasses at all. I was surprised by this. I was under the impression that she couldn't see anything! Apparently that is not true. If I understand it correctly, she has good vision, she just has to work 5 times harder than a regular person to see. So her eyes cross because she is trying so hard. So over time, her eyes will strengthen with her glasses and her farsightedness will correct itself. Maybe by the time she is a teenager, she won't have to wear them any more! She goes back in 6 months.

Matt got one part of the fence put in while we were gone this weekend. It looks nice. It has a large gap under it though. We are going to haul in dirt to level the yard. Thanks Tyler!! He also built the girls a new slide. The people who lived here before us left a slide next to the shed. It is one that looks like it originally was on one of those big wooden swing sets. Matt built a ladder and support and put it on the girls' swing set that Pop made them. They have quite the set up going out there now! Kalee went down it once and cried. It is pretty fast and she didn't like it. So she keeps going back to the old smaller slide. I was going to see if Molly Jo or Lily Mae wanted it, but think I better keep it for awhile longer! He also fixed the dryer. It was making this horrible screeching sound when you turned it on and he told me I couldn't use it (after I had just washed 2 loads of laundry and had all those wet clothes sitting there! Thanks Debbie for drying them while I was gone!!!)

Kalee pooped on the potty today. It was very exciting (I know you are all thrilled!). Too bad she won't pee on it!

Matt told me last week that he wants to take me on a trip for my 30th birthday next year! I'm so excited! I am trying to decide where to go. I am thinking Las Vegas. We will be going to Mexico once already for Katie's wedding. I don't know though...I was looking at flights and hotels and really, they aren't all that cheap right now to Vegas. It might be about the same to just go to somewhere tropical again! We'll see what happens!! I also wouldn't mind going to see Megan...but sorry Meg, I think I will have to choose warm beaches over Oregon!

My pretty flowers from my loving husband! He does love me and can be romantic...it just doesn't happen very often! In fact, I think the last time I got flowers was when I had surgery to get my gall bladder taken out...that was almost 4 years ago! Wait...did he get me flowers when Kalee was born...hmmm...no, I don't think so, but it is a possibility, so that would be 2 years ago.

  1. Check out Alegiant Air. They fly out of Peoria and have specials all the time. Gary and Judy use them all the time and like them.
