Bragging on Peyton
Warning...this is a very mommy bragger filled post.
I am a proud momma today and am not ashamed to tell about my awesome kid...you've been warned.
Matt and I went to our first (of many) Parent/Teacher Conference last night.
I admit to being a total dork because I was so excited to go.
Imagine all the scrapbooking opportunities this will give me.
Plus, hopefully, I would get to hear that my kid is pretty awesome and as amazing as we think she is.
It's always nice to hear others tell you that, I admit it.
Matt hurt his back, so he might not have been nearly as excited as me.
(I guess building a house and moving large sheets of plywood by yourself in tornadic winds is not a good idea)
OK, he doesn't get very excited about things like this, I do.
Guess we balance each other out!
Anyway, back to the conference and bragging on Peyton...
Here it is...her first report card!!
I may frame it.
I can't believe we've gotten successfully through her first school quarter!
Oh, the excitement!
Mrs. Ryherd said Peyton is doing wonderfully.
She meets or exceeds all expectations.
She is sweet, responsible, cares for others, takes care of her things, listens well, and does her work correctly.
She is thrilled with Peyton's progress from the first few weeks of school to now.
She started to tear up talking about Peyton's first few days and how she would cry and be sad.
(she is such a caring woman, seriously.)
But now, Peyton bopps into the room all smiles and goes through her day with no problems!
Peyton "glows" in the following areas:
Letter and sound identification
Sight word identification
and making friends.
She continues to grow in her reading skills, writing skills and math skills.
I'm so proud of her!! (did you get that yet?)
Speaking of reading skills...Peyton can totally read!!
She picked up a book the other day and read it to me.
Brought tears to my eyes.
Brought tears to my eyes.
Grandma had a book from school that is a first level reader...kind of a Dick and Jane book.
Peyton can read the whole thing...like 50 pages!
Peyton can read the whole thing...like 50 pages!
She took it to school to show Mrs. Ryherd and Mrs. Ryherd let her read it to the whole class!!
Peyton was beyond proud of herself.
The kids all clapped for her and gave her a "Firecracker" when she was done.
Apparently, they all clap once and do jazz hands...a firecracker...so cute!
I just love Peyton's teacher.
I can't say enough about how nice she is.
She is truly an amazing teacher.
I am even more impressed by her after being in the room for the Halloween party.
Controlled chaos.
It's craziness, but she never seemed flustered or lost her patience.
That patience thing would be my downfall...one of the reasons I am not meant to be a teacher!!
Anyway...I am proud of Peyton's success in school and hope it continues!
And if your child is going to Pawnee, I highly recommend Mrs. Ryherd.
She is amazing!
That's it...Proud braggy mommy moment is over...at least on here!
Oh, and Matt is "fine" today according to him.
He went to Prompt care and has pulled muscles up and down his left side.
Got a pain meds shot and some muscle relaxers.
He still moves pretty slowly.
But at least he's moving...more than I can say for yesterday!
House building...rough on Matt...Good thing he's tough!
